What has been apparent for a long time is now official: Florian Lipowitz will be pedaling in the jersey of the German BORA-hansgrohe team in the WorldTour from January 1st, 2023. The rise of Lipowitz, who joined the Tirol KTM team in 2020 as a hopeful biathlete and successful marathon cyclist, is thus experiencing its next logical increase.

“Already in the first races we all recognized Lipo’s huge physical potential and talent and that he will one day end up in the top category of cycling. We wish him all the best and lots of fun with his sport,” says sports director Grega Gazvoda, commenting on his protégé’s career leap .

And how does Florian Lipowitz see his exciting career as a cyclist? “I’m very grateful to the Tirol KTM team for believing in me almost three years ago and giving me the chance to start cycling at a continental level. Without this trust I wouldn’t have made it now. It was a nice one and a great time. Now I’m looking forward to the new challenges and before that to my last race in the Tirol KTM jersey next Sunday at Piccolo Lombardia”.

After Matevz Govekar (Bahrain Victorious) and Felix Engelhardt (Bike ExChange Jayco), Florian Lipowitz is now the third Tirol KTM rider to switch to the pros in the WorldTour this season. And things are also looking good for Karel Vacek, at least with a commitment on the ProContinental level.
